Ultra long universal couplings refer to products with axial dimensions significantly larger than standard models, typically featuring longer intermediate expansion sleeves or extended universal joint spacing. This ultra long design brings several significant features: firstly, it can adapt to larger axial displacement compensation requirements, with a stretchability of up to 150mm or even more; Secondly, the ultra long structure can span larger mechanical distances and directly connect long-distance transmission shafts; Furthermore, some ultra long designs can effectively reduce vibration transmission and improve system dynamic performance. However, the ultra long design also brings additional technical challenges, such as bending deformation of the intermediate shaft, reduction of critical speed, and increased requirements for dynamic balance.
Structurally speaking, ultra long universal couplings usually adopt a cross axis design because they have the advantages of compact structure, high transmission efficiency (up to 98-99.8%), and large load-bearing capacity. A typical ultra long universal joint consists of two universal joints and a telescopic intermediate shaft, and the length of the intermediate shaft can be customized according to actual needs. The universal joint part includes key components such as the cross shaft, bearings, and fork heads. The cross shaft serves as the core load-bearing element and is usually made of high-quality alloy steel such as 20CrMnTi. It undergoes heat treatment processes such as carburizing and quenching to achieve ideal performance matching of high surface hardness and high core toughness.
