Cross universal joint is a type of non constant velocity universal joint composed of two universal joint forks connected by a cross shaft, and belongs to the most commonly used type in the universal joint family. Its core structure consists of four basic components: two universal joint forks, a cross shaft, and four sets of bearing systems. The universal joint fork is usually connected to the driving shaft and the driven shaft through flanges or sleeves, while the cross shaft is orthogonally connected to two universal joint forks through four shaft necks, each equipped with needle roller bearings to reduce friction.

The angle compensation capability of the cross universal joint is its significant feature, generally allowing an axis angle of 5 ° -45 °, the specific value depends on the design and size. Lightweight cross universal shafts (such as WS and WSD series) are commonly used in small machinery and instruments, with a torque transmission range of 11.2-1120N · m; Medium sized (such as SWP series) is suitable for general industrial equipment, with a torque capacity of up to 40kN · m; Heavy duty vehicles (such as the SWC series) are widely used in heavy industries such as metallurgy and mining, with some models having a torque of up to 8100kN · m; Ultra heavy duty is often specially customized for extreme working conditions such as ship propulsion and generator sets.

From a structural perspective, cross universal shafts can be divided into three categories: flange type, through type, and telescopic type. Flange type (such as SWP-ZG type) is connected by flange bolts, which is easy to install and disassemble and has good neutrality; The cross shaft of the through type (such as SWC-WH type) passes through two universal joint forks, with a compact structure and high torque; The telescopic type (such as SWC-BH type) is equipped with a spline telescopic sleeve, which can compensate for axial displacement and is particularly suitable for situations with axial deformation such as axle transmission.
