Industrial gear coupling is a movable rigid coupling, whose core structure consists of an inner gear ring and a flange half coupling with outer teeth. The torque transmission between the two shafts is achieved through the meshing of the inner and outer teeth. This design enables it to compensate for the relative displacement of two axes within a certain range, including axial, radial, and angular deviations.
The principle of meshing between internal and external teeth is the foundation of the operation of gear couplings. The number of teeth on the inner ring gear and the outer shaft sleeve is the same, but there is appropriate backlash between the teeth, which allows the coupling to adapt to the relative displacement between the two shafts while transmitting torque. When the driving shaft rotates, the meshing effect between the outer and inner teeth drives the driven shaft to rotate synchronously, completing the transmission of power. It is worth noting that during the working process, due to the possible relative displacement between the two axes, the tooth surfaces of the inner and outer teeth will periodically slide axially, which puts high demands on lubrication and sealing.
